JW Jordan’s Sons was established in 1888 at 122 E Broad St, making Jordan's the oldest continually operated jewelry store in North Carolina. Mr. Jordan created this store for his 2 sons, one whom was a watch maker and expanded upon the business to incorporate all jewelry items. The large safe from the original Bank of Dunn (weighing nearly 6 tons!) that is still used for day to day operations was brought down a once gravel Broad St. on railroad ties and placed into the store. Based on records, the storefront was then built and completed in the early 1900's.
In 1976, Joyce Jones, who had worked at the store since she was a teenager in the 50's took over ownership of the store and incorporated it as Jordan’s Jewelry Store, Inc. She and her sister, Ms. Virginia continued the day to day operations of the store until Ms. Joyce passed away in 2020. That made 68 years of great customer service.
My husband Mark and I purchased Jordan’s in 2021 to continue on the legacy and business that Joyce and Virginia proudly built. I grew up in Dunn and we can both remember shopping at Jordan’s all of our lives. Mrs. Joyce pierced my ears at the age of 10, we created a wedding registry at Jordan's, and we always enjoyed every single "treasure hunt" we went on when visiting the store. We simply could not let the landmark of Jordan's leave Dunn -- so, here we are!
